Mavs sign guard Akognon to 10-day deal

DALLAS (AP) -- The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent guard Josh Akognon to a 10-day contract Wednesday.
Akognon, who was in training camp with the Mavs, is expected to join the team in Denver and be available for Thursday night's game against the Nuggets.
After being one of the last cuts by the Mavericks last fall, the 5-foot-11 Akognon played 36 games in the Chinese Basketball Association. He averaged 29 points, including four 40-point games, for the Liaoning Jiebao Hunters.
Akognon is the third guard in recent weeks Dallas has signed to 10-day contracts, following Chris Wright and Justin Dentmon.
Akognon replaces Dentmon, who was released from his 10-day deal after playing only a combined 4 minutes in two games.

Entering Wednesday, Washington was 28-46, with eight games left in the regular season.
Beal, the No. 3 overall pick in last year's draft out of Florida, averaged 13.9 points, 3.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds this season. He earned Eastern Conference rookie of the month honors in December and January.

Bobcats sign guard Pargo for rest of season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Bobcats have announced they've signed guard Jannero Pargo for the remainder of the season.
The move Wednesday comes after Pargo played well during back-to-back 10-day contracts with the Bobcats.
The 6-foot-1 Pargo has appeared in 10 games for the Bobcats averaging 9.4 points, 2.5 assists, 1.1 rebounds and one steal in 17.4 minutes.
He has scored in double figures five times while shooting 41 percent from the field, including 38 percent from 3-point range.
Prior to signing with the Bobcats Pargo had played in 14 total games this season -- seven each with the Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks -- with overall averages of four points and 2.4 assists in 15.4 minutes.
